The Second New Trick

So, I promised I would tell you about Drew's other trick he learned. Well, he now loves to stand up, everywhere. He stands up in his crib, on chairs, the edge of the couch, and the entertainment center. It is cute to see him pull himself up, but it is not so fun when he falls back and bumps his head. Yes, Drew has a few bruises on his face because he is becoming so active. The bad part about his new trick is he now stands up in his crib and can't get himself down. He knows how to but when he is in his crib, it is like he forgets how to do it. When he is crawling, he will stop, put his butt in the air, get on his finger tips, and try to stand up all by himself, but then realizes he can't do it so he flops to the ground. It is a crack up. He really wants to walk so badly so he can play with his cousins. We are just grateful he is sleeping well once again. It makes my life so much easier.

Yes, we are huge Harry Potter fans and we were so excited for the book to come out on Saturday. I have to say we are not the die hard fans that got the book at Midnight on Saturday. We waited until 10 AM and bought it at Target without any lines or crowds. Thursday, my mom watched Drew while Ryan and I went and saw the movie of the 5th Harry Potter. Thanks Mom! It was really good. I wanted to see the movie before we started to read the last book. We read together which is a lot of fun. I am usually the one reading out loud because I can read faster. On Saturday, we read just over 400 pages and Sunday we read just over 200 pages. I can't wait for Ryan to get home from work so we can finish the book tonight. We stopped just as it started to get really good. So we have been quite the bums this last weekend.

But Drew got his first tooth! YAYAYAYA! We were so excited and he is now back to taking good naps, at least for the past 2 days. I bought the Einstein Lullabies CD and play it during all of his naps. I just set the player to repeat the CD so it never stops. This morning I had to wake him up after he had already slept 2 1/2 hours. Hopefully it continues. I think the music really helps. He used to not be a light sleeper but lately he would wake up to the phone ringing and the door bell. Thank goodness for modern conveniences.

UPDATE: Yes, we finished the book Monday night. It was really good. Way worth the time and effort in reading it. I would highly suggest anyone who hasn't read the Harry Potter series to read it entirely. Each book is better than the one before it. The 7th book is definately the best!

What fun!

Drew has been quite the learner lately. On the video of him, I love to watch his mouth. It amazes me how he learns to do things. He has figured out how to crawl and now crawls everywhere. I love it! He also says DADADADADADA all the time. It is so funny because those are his first noises he makes when he wakes up in the morning. The only problem with learning to crawl is now he wants to crawl in bed. It is the worst when he wakes up and is not quite finished taking a nap. I know when he is still tired and I try to get him back to sleep but usually I can't. I read that in time they will go back to sleeping normally so hopefully that will happen soon. We are going on 2 weeks now of crazy sleeping! He learned another trick but I will post that for another day.

TAGGED

I know my sister Julie tagged me a week ago but I needed time to think about what I should write. Then Sheila tagged me today, so I guess it is good I waited. Here's how it works: I must post 7 random things about me and then tag others to do the same. You think it sounds easy enough, right?

1. I met my husband on a blind date but I didn't go on the date with him. I was on a date with his good friend. That was the first night I met Ryan and when my date told me Ryan was pre-mission, I was totally not interested but I thought he was cute. The next weekend I went and hung out with the guys hoping my blind date guy would be there but he was sick so that's when Ryan came into the picture. We had fun getting to know each other. We did date before his mission but decided to be friends a month into his mission. When he got home, I wasn't even planning to go and see him but he called me and the rest is history!!!

2. I love to watch all my favorite shows on TV. I love the Food Network and Rachel Ray and Alton Brown. I love to watch the Next Food Network Star and am rooting for Amy to win this year. Other shows I love is Heroes, Medium, Smallville, 1 vs. 100, Identity, and Big Brother. I know I am a dork but it is hard when you get hooked onto a show. You can't stop watching it. I have tried. On ya, and I almost forgot, Bill O'Rilley. I love his show. He does such a good job, doing his job right. I love his honesty!

3. When I was growing up I had a bad problem sleep talking and sleep walking. I have since grown out of the sleep walking, thank goodness, and only sleep talk occasionally. But man was it embarrassing to sleep over at other people's houses. One occasion was at Sally's house when I slept walked right out the front door and their house alarm went off. I quickly woke up and jumped back into my sleeping bag and pretended to be asleep. I was so embarrassed. Her parents came down and thought some boys were trying to get in. I just kept on pretending to be asleep and didn't reveal the truth until the next morning!

4. When I am bored or watching tv or a movie I pick at my nails. It is just a bad habit and I can't break it. My sisters and mom can't stand it but my loving husband has never been annoyed by it!

5. I love to cook and can't wait to cook more now that I am a stay at home mom. I like to cook easy things but I think my favorite is making desserts. I guess it is because I love to eat desserts, too. I use to experiment more when I first got married but not as much. I hope to change that here soon once life settles down a bit. I especially love to get recipes from others who know it is good and easy to make.

6. I love to shop for Drew. It is so fun to walk around Target, Ross, and Babies R Us. The funny thing is I can't buy clothes unless it is a spankin good deal. I usually only buy them at Target if they are on clearance and Ross it is already a good deal. I love to find good deals and so excited when I can get a whole outfit for $3 brand new! Yes, I did accomplish that one time. Sometimes I will splurge and buy it regular price but I must really love it to buy it not on sale.

7. I check my email like 8 times a day. I know I am so weird but you never know if you will get an email that needs to be read right away. It is the worst when I am waiting for an email, such as my husband and his job. Then, I might check it a little bit more. But I only do this if I am home all day. I could never do it while working. Sometimes, I have a few friends that we would sit and email back and forth to each other through out the day. Our responses were sometimes instantly. It was fun, don't do it too much anymore! I don't have the time.

So I finished my list and don't really want to pass this burden on but if any of my Kump cousins, Mark and Mary, and Scott and Marjorie would like to do this, they may do so!

Cabin Fun

So on Friday, we went up by Park City with Ryan's parents to their cabin. The weather was perfect up there and it was very peaceful. Drew had his first experience on a four wheeler. I was a little nervous but Ryan went really slow. He actually really enjoyed his ride. While in Utah, Drew perfected his sitting up moves and now can sit up without any help while on his tummy. He also started to crawl. I was in the kitchen and he was trying to get Gizmo's dish. Instead of doing a scoot and flopping to the floor he kept going. I ran and grabbed the camera but he wouldn't repeat it. He hasn't repeated it since. That is very typical of Drew. He will figure something out, do it one time, and then quit for a while. He has been scooting pretty good and is even trying to copy his cousin Carter Hansen by doing the Spider Crawl. We'll have to wait and see which way he decides to crawl. So we got back from Utah Sunday morning. It was actually a little crazy coming home because they closed I-15 beccause of the fire. So we had to take a detour. It wasn't too bad because I followed this Lexus most of the way!!! It is definaltely good to be home to get back to reality.

Utah Fun

What a week we have had so far. We drove up to Utah Monday night and Drew did so well. He stayed asleep the whole time and only woke up when the car stopped. On the 4th, we went to the Kump's house and had a nice barbecue with everyone. It was great to chat and spend time with all the cousins. I was so mad I forgot my camera but Shirlene took a picture of the three baby cousins so hopefully she will post it on her blog. It is a little difficult enjoying fireworks when you have a 7th month old who goes to bed at 7:30. So we watched a movie and listened to fireworks. Hopefully next year Drew will be a year older and can stay up to see all the action. Then yesterday we went and visited Bethany and Stan Zeyer in Herriman. They have the cutest kids and Drew had a lot of fun playing with them all. He loves playing with the kids even if the are a lot older than him. Of course I forgot the camera again, but I already laid it out for today's adventures. So were are having a relaxing vacation here in Utah. It is just so hot. When I go on vacation I want to get out of the 100 degree weather but it is 100 degree weather here. We are thinking of California next 4th of July!
