Catching Up

Spending quality time with Daddy, watching cartoons!

So we all survived our crazy week last week. I think Drew really missed being in his own house and sleeping in his own crib for his naps. Sunday and Monday we were in heaven because he slept in until 7:00 and he hasn't done that in a long time. It was nice working last week to earn a little extra Christmas money but it is sure nice getting back to our routine. I still have a few videos I need to put on here but Ryan just hasn't gotten to downloading them on the computer yet. So hopefully sometime this week you can see how Drew gets into the bathroom sink, talks in "Japanese", and rides his tractor through the house.

A few of my favorites of Drew that has happened this week:

  • Waving and saying bye to me when I put him in bed for nap and sometimes bedtime. He is doing so good going to bed, he knows he is tired and won't fight me.

  • Giving hugs and kisses all the time, especially the baby. He even gave Ryan's brother a kiss goodbye on Sunday when we left their house and then blew kisses. He stopped giving kisses a few months ago. I am glad they are back!

  • Talking so much better with his words. He still does his jibberish but is finally using more words he knows in his language which is nice to know what he is talking about.

  • Pointing and saying the name of things in books. He can also tell you what noise some animals or things make. At church he saw a tiger in one of his books and roared.

  • He is so into cars, trucks, and trains right now. He loves to make cars go vroom and the train he puts his arm in the air and makes a noise. He loves to push them all over the house and anywhere else we go. His 2 favorite cars we have lost but hopefully can find them soon because I am worried his train will get worn out!

  • Just this week he will now fold his arms for prayers. We have been working really hard trying to get Drew to understand what to do during prayer time and it finally clicked. Ryan and I were both so excited for this milestone.

  • Watching Drew watch his cartoons. I know it is bad to let your kids watch TV but when you only have 1 kid and pregnant with the 2nd and it is so hot outside, there is only so much you can do to entertain your child. I do limit TV time, probably not as good as I should, but hey, I will work on it this fall and winter. His favorite show is Wow, Wow, Wubbzy and he gets so into it that you sometimes can't get his attention. Sometimes, he is so entertained, he cracks up and rolls on the floor. I am trying to get this on video but it is hard.

Ok, so super long post, but all this has happened within the week.

Baby update: just about 4 weeks left. I see my doctor tomorrow! If there is any news to share, I will do so. She is still so much quieter than Drew. Moves around here and there but not too much in the kicking department, which I am not complaining. My feet are not quite as swollen as last week but my wonderful husband suggested putting ice packs on them and that did wonders! It really helped.

MIA

Just a quick post to let you know we are still alive but busy as ever. I am substituting all week in sixth grade and my feet are swelling up big time. My right foot is actually a balloon and hurts to walk. But I am surviving. Being on the computer makes the swelling worse so usually when Drew goes to bed, I go and lay in bed until I can fall asleep. But my lack of sleep these past few weeks is a whole other story. Poor Drew, going from house to house and even to houses he has never been at but he is surviving too! I am just thankful for the wonderful people that have helped out this week and especially those that watched Drew all day. Ryan was suppose to work half days this week but it didn't work out that way but thankfully it all worked out. So, hopefully next week I will back up with some pictures and videos!

Cars with Corn on the Cob

This has been one of the best weeks for us in a long time. YAY! Life is starting to get back to normal. We love Drew but he is so finicky. I am a little worried how he will adjust to the changes when the baby arrives. Only time will tell. Almost 1 1/2 months left and we are getting really excited. So Drew has found a love of cars this week. He has always had them in his toy bins and played with them occasionally, but never a real passion. Until this week. He carries his cars everywhere with him, to the store, around the house, and even to bed. Yes, I let him take it to bed last night after he whined when I took it away. As a mom who is pregnant, there are some battles not even worth battling. Don't worry, it was gone after he fell asleep!

Then we had corn on the cob this week because Albertson's finally had them 5 for $1. Drew was dying to try it at first, so impatient, but when it came down to it, he wanted me to hold it. Then, when I was mean and told him he had to hold it, he ate it from the table. He liked it, but wouldn't eat it the next night. He is such a picky eater. I hope he grows out of it one of these days. He won't even eat hot dogs anymore!!!
