Update

So I think the surgery was a success. I expected my sweet little Drew to be completely back to normal by Monday but my expectations were a little high. He is sleeping a lot better but still wakes up in the middle of the night. He does, however, put himself back to sleep pretty quick, so I have yet to get up. He can't quite figure out what time to get up so it is anywhere from 7 to 8 in the morning. When he gets up at 7 he is a crank by 10 and when he sleeps till 8 he is a happy boy. We just have to give him time to get back to his routine. He is taking 2 1/2 to 3 hour naps so that is good. To update you on his teeth, Drew has his 4 molars, his front 4 teeth on top, and his bottom front 3. That fourth one is still almost there. Here are 2 fun videos we took, or Ryan took, of Drew. It is hard these days to get him on camera because he likes to pose for it! Both videos were taken the same day and the first leaves off where the second begins. I am trying to decide if he says dog when he hears the dog barking. Not quite sure.

Drew LOVES to play outside. He loves playing and eating the rocks. Excuse the background noise. Ryan was watching TV and was recording this from inside the house.

Survivng Surgery

It's finally over...HALLELUJAH! We finally decided to put tubes in Drew's ears. We feel the chirpractor helped to relieve the pressure but didn't help remove the fluid. That night when Drew saw the Chiropractor was a one night miracle for us. The next night we were back to the "usual" routine. The nice thing about seeing the chiro was he showed Ryan a technique to help release the flluid. The teachnique didn't release the fluid for Drew but sure did help with the pressure. So it was our temporay remedy until the surgery. Drew had tubes put in his ears this morning around 9:15. He was such a good boy for being hungry and wanting to run around everywhere. The actual surgery took a little longer because instead of it being fluid behind his ears there was mucus, more in his right ear than in his left. When he started coming out of it, he was not a happy camper. It took him 5 minutes to open his eyes. When we got home we put Drew down for a nap because he was just grumpy from the anesthesia. He was a sleep within 2 minutes. He should wake up a little happier. Hopefully tonight will be a good night. I can't even remember when Drew slept through the whole night. It has been really hard on me because I wake up when he does and still can't fall back to sleep after Drew's asleep. And when Drew wakes up in the middle of the night, he is usually up for 1.5 to 2 hours. It hasn't been fun. So hopefully tonight will be a good night.

On President's Day, Ryan had the day off so we walked to the park and Drew had his first experience in the swing. He absolutely loved it and was even trying to swing himself. It was so cute and man is he a quick learner. He loves climbing on things and sliding down the slide. He has absolutely no fear whatsoever. He loves to slide down head first. He thinks it is more fun. We are definitely loving this spring weather, except for the days here and there it decides to be really cold, but the weather has been beautiful. 70's all next week. We are really excited for this summer to introduce him to water, pool, and the beach!

A Fabulous Valentines

We had a great Valentine's Day..hopefully everyone else had a great day also. The day started with Ryan having a rose on the counter when I got up. It was very beautiful. Then, I started the day off by making chocolate covered strawberries. They were absolutely delicious. I decided to make Ryan a nice dinner for the big day because going out on Valentine's Day is a nightmare and plus we are really trying to watch what we spend. So, after I made the strawberries, I made Ryan one of his favorite desserts (and mine too), Mudd Pie or Cream Tort. It is so yummy but so absolutely fattening so I only make it once a year. Ryan and I recently sold some items on Craigslist so we used that money to buy each other something nice for Valentine's. I had to wait for mine to be delivered that day and then couldn't open it till Ryan got home. I was better prepared and got my present for Ryan off Ebay the week prior and had it hidden in my buffet table.

When Ryan got home from work he took Drew to the Chiropractor to see if he could relieve the pressure in Drew's ears. Boy was that a miracle waiting to happen. Drew didn't even cry while he was being adjusted. Our Chiropractor said he was one tough kid. Ryan got adjusted too and is really sore from his hip and knee being out of place since before we were married.

While they were at the Chiropractor I tutored one of my kidos that couldn't make it on Tuesday. I only tutor 2 kids and it is so nice to have a little extra spending money. When my boys got back Ryan let me open my package and he got me a pearl necklace and earrings from Shane Co. I absolutely loved them. I told him just after Christmas that I wanted some for my birthday. I felt like a princess. Then Ryan opened his box and got his shaver he has been wanting. I got it for a spanking good deal I couldn't pass up. His old shaver was horrible and wouldn't even keep its charge.

Then I made dinner and we ate it when Drew went to sleep. It was nice to have a quiet house. I made Ryan Lemon Steak and it was sooooo good. I think I am going to make it again this week. I buy London Broil when it goes on sale and it is just as cheap as chicken when it is on sale. Then we watched Becoming Jane, thanks to my sister Julie telling me how good it is and that she was watching it that night. It was pretty good, a little slow at first but not predictable whatsoever. Thank you Ryan for a perfect Valentine's Day!

I had to put a picture of Drew in this post. Drew's favorite thing to do is play outside. I am so glad it is finally warm enough to let him go out and play. His favorite thing to do outside is push things around and that includes boxes. He also loves to eat rocks.
PS: Sorry about the plain old boring background. I tried to change it and now it is screwed up and I am having issues. Hopefully I can fix it soon!

New Haircut

Last Saturday we celebrated Nathan, Andrew, and Brandon's birthday at Chuck E Cheese's. It was alot of fun and thanks to Kimberly we got a picture of Drew. I took my camera but was too lazy to get it out. Just before the party I gave Drew a much needed haircut. If you scroll down to his Drool picture, you can see his hair was getting quite long and thick. So I pulled out the clippers and cut his hair while daddy held him. Drew was so good and only got whiney when the hair got in his nose. I was so proud that he wasn't afraid of the clippers because earlier he was scared of any loud noise that came from a machine. I know his hair cut isn't perfect but it turned out pretty good. I was proud of myself. I cut it just how I cut Ryan's hair. So now they both match.

Now onto the saga of the ENT doctor. We finally went with Dr. McKenna out in Awatukee because he got Drew in on Friday morning and the other choice was Dr. Gonzalez but he couldn't see Drew till the following Friday. Dr. McKenna was referred by quite a few people and even in the waiting room we were talking to another couple who told us he was highly referred. The only problem was we had to wait 1 hour and 15 min. to see him. By the time we saw him, Drew was grummpy, tired, and hungry. Let's just say he wasn't very cooperative. I was surpised to find out that his ear infection had gone away but he still has fluid in his ear and that is causing pressure which is why he isn't sleeping well. (Side note, the night before I had to sleep with Drew in the recliner and couch for 3-4 hours and then he slept another 3 hours in his crib. It wasn't a fun night.) So we are getting tubes in his ear because the fluid isn't leaving his ear and it continues to get infected. That is why we go from ear infection to healthy ear and so many antibiotics. They medicine is doing its job but the fluid is still there and gets infected again. So we are hoping to get the surgery done next week but if not, by the following week. I just want to be able to sleep through the night, along with Drew!

We went to Sweet Tomatoes after our appointment. Note to self, never take Drew to a restaurant when it is nap time. He was horrible. We finally got him to eat jello and he made such a mess but it kept him from crying and shouting. He was so tired, he fell asleep pretty quick on the way home.

So that has been our fun life this past week. Never a dull moment for us. Onto some exciting news, my cousin Shirlene had her baby girl the other day. Congrats! Can't wait to see her this summer and Leeanne (Hoopes) Cook finally got her blog started. YEAH! Check out her cute little girl. And lastly, you have to check out my sister Julie's blog and read her horrifying story that happened to her on Thursday. I think it is something that everyone fears. Seriously, I always tell myself as I am buckling Drew in his carseat, one of these days I am going to lock him in the car with my keys right next to him. It is one of my biggest fears. Thank heavens for AAA!

This ones for Sara

I have been meaning to type this post for a couple of weeks now but waiting for the big 20 which never happened but I am OK with that. Two words: Weight Watchers! I love them. I have been struggling since May to lose my baby weight and couldn't do it. I would go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week and watch what I ate but I only lost 3 pounds in 6 months. It was very frustrating. It was even harder when I surprising was pregnant and then had my miscarriage. Now I know why I couldn't lose the weight during the summer but by October I felt it was enough. I hated reading my friend Sara's blog and her telling how she lost another 2 or 3 pounds and she is a skinny toothpick. What really pushed me over the edge was when 2 or 3 people came up to me in a weeks period of time and asked me again when my due date was, they hadn't heard I miscarried. What I love about WW is I could still eat everything I used to eat but just had to limit myself. I also loved to go and workout because then I got extra points and man did those come in handy so many days! So I was hoping to lose 20 pounds in the 3 months that I did Weight Watchers but I was 1 pound shy, but I was pretty proud of myself. I am trying really hard to keep at my weight but I wasn't good this past weekend. I would love to lose another 15 pounds but I am just happy to have the baby weight off and fit in my old pair of jeans I couldn't even fit into in my first trimester. Anyways, thanks Sara...I will now be joining WW every time I have a baby and when I am finished having kids, I am going to get back to my weight when I was married!

What a Week!

Don't you love the drool!

Man, what a week this has been. It started out absolutely fantastic. I placed some items on Craigslist and sold 2 things within 4 hours, cha-ching! Ryan has to take another item to this guy tomorrow. Then I decided to be a better mom and take Drew on walks more. I stopped going to the gym because Ryan changed his work schedule and I don't really want to get up at 5:30 in the morning to work out, and I am now tutoring in the afternoon Monday - Wednesday. So, we live right by the canal that runs through Gilbert and they have a nice walk way that leads to the McQueen Center and a few playgrounds. They also have a pond you can walk around and ducks you can feed. So after scouting it all out on Monday, I took Drew to the playground on Wednesday to play. He had so much fun and didn't want to leave. It was really windy and cold so we only let him play for 15 min. I know we are cruel parents but it felt like 50 degrees, seriously with that nasty wind. I hope to continue going on walks every week. It was nice that Ryan came with us on Wednesday.

Drew was rocking the car back and forth and making AH AH noises, that's why his mouth is opened.

Last week Drew got his first muler and has 2 more coming in and 2 more regular teeth coming in also. Poor little man. He is contant drool all day. He has been struggling to sleep early on in the week but once we got the orajel out, we has been doing really well....UNTIL last night in the bath, Drew started to rub his ears. I thought to myself, OH NO! Please don't have that nasty ear infection still. Well, today we had our follow up appointment with our fantastic pediatrician, Dr. Hall, and my worst fear came true. His double ear infection was still there. It probably did go away last week but once he finished his medicine it came back with a punch. Dr. Hall said he had puss and his right hear was close to popping. My poor sweet boy! Then she brought me to reality because Drew basically has had an ear infection on and off since October. October, I forgot it was in October. I thought it was in November. Dang it! So now we have to go and see a Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctor and probably get tubes. Ya, I know it is quite a common thing in little kids these days but I about cried when I got to the car. I didn't want to put Drew through a surgery. I know it is very mild, but it is still surgery. So if any knows a good Ear, Nose, Throat DR. let me know. The one my brother went to just retired and the one my pediatrician normally recommends just dropped United, so I have 3 back ups but would rather go with someone that has been highly recommended! But now Drew is on some heavy medicine and hopfully next week will start out great and end even better!

Drew loves being in his diaper and his new fad is rolling around on the floor, in place.

Look at his tears. He always gets mad when our walk is over.
