Black Friday

Finally, Black Friday came and went. Boy was that one busy day for us. I got up at 3:30 and met my sisters and mom at Kohls. Thankgoodness they got there at 3:15 because when I got there 15 minutes later the line was becoming really long. Every year we always go to Kohls because they always have their toys at least 50% off and then use a 15% off coupon. It is a dang good deal. I bought Drew a toy that his Grandma is giving him for his birthday. I actually went on Wednesday night and hid it because they only had 2 of them. I also got some jeans for Ryan for family pictures. They were only $12. Then it was off to Walmart. They were opened but you can't grab the stuff till 5:00. So my mom and Wendi helped Scott with a few of his items and I stood guard on something my mom wanted while my other 2 sisters stood guard in the toy department. Come to find out they had Gobble and Go Hippo for $13 and we had no idea. It's a good thing Kimberly spotted that deal. I will probably save it for our next child.

So by now it is 5:15 and I decide to be a nice wife and go wait in Office Max's line by myself so Ryan and Drew could sleep in a little longer. Yes, Drew joined all the madness. I was the 5th person in line, which relieved Ryan because he really wanted this computer monitor they had for a dang good price. My sweet Mom and sisters were at QT getting hot chocolate and brought me one. It was just what I needed at that exact moment. I was starting to get a little cold. I have an awesome family! Then, Ryan comes and relieves me at 5:45 so I could head over to Staples. My Dad and Scott were already in line. They opened at 6 and Office Max opened at 7 AM. I will never go to Staples again in all my life, seriously. They were so unorganized, had no idea where their advertised items were located, my camera wasn't even out on the floor, it was in the back room, and they rang up some items wrong. Yes, it took me 45 minutes to get out of there and had to come back later that night. I didn't realize they rang me up wrong until I got home. Even my Dad got over charged on one of his items. That is bad. I feel bad for those that don't check their receipts. So then at 6:45 I head back over to Office Max just in time to take Drew so Ryan could go get his monitor. Finally we head back home. But the craziness was still not over. After Drew's morning nap we head to Mill's mall and find out The Children's Place is having 20% off everything till noon and I had an additional 15% off coupon. Cha-ching! We finally found some wide width shoes for Drew at Payless. He is still adjusting to his shoes. He likes to walk barefoot the best. So that was our crazy Black Friday. Drew was such a trooper, even with his ear infection and all. Now I really need to start substituting more to pay back our Savings for everything we spent!

A Memorable Thanksgiving

Can I just say Urgent Care, a fever, and an ear infection. Does that give you a clue how we spent Thanksgiving? It is kind of my own fault. All week Drew has been a little cranky. I just assumed it was him teething because he now has 6 teeth....2 on bottom and 4 on top. Then Wednesday morning, his ears seemed to be bothering him so I gave him ear drops and thought it would pass. Boy was I ever wrong. By 4:45 PM, he had a low fever. I tried to call the doctor but of course they closed early. So I get in touch with the on call nurse and there really isn't much she can do for me. I contemplated whether I should take him to Urgent Care Wednesday but his fever went away later that night. So I thought, oh he will be better in the morning...WRONG! He was cranky and clingy.

Well, Ryan heads to Turkey Bowl with our ward and gets back sore as can be and had a few funny stories which I will not share for his sake and Drew is still not feeling well. We did have a delicious Turkey dinner at my Mom's with all our favorites: 12 layer jello, homemade 3 ball rolls, yams with marshmellows, and delicious turkey! After dinner, Drew decided to only sleep 45 min. for his nap and I checked his ears again and they were really bad. According to earcheck, his one ear was 4 out of 5 for fluid in his ear. Poor baby! So we head over to Pediatric Urgent Care right by our house and are in and out in 1 hour and 20 min. Not bad for a holiday. Yes he had a really bad ear infection.

So to make a really long story short, Saturday night I bought motrin for his pain because the tylenol wasn't working and now he is our happy little boy with a little attitude. His one ear is now 5 out of 5 so hopefully the meds will kick in soon so he can get back to his same cute self without pain killers. I know this was a novel but I needed to write it up so I can remember Drew's first Thanksgiving. It wasn't the best day but for having a really bad ear infection, Drew was actually pretty good. I would probably be a bigger crank than him. I don't tolerate pain. Stay tuned for our Black Friday bliss!

Just Like Daddy

Drew finally got his first haircut, thanks to Wendi, and Ryan decided to do his hair all nice. He styled it just like he styles his own hair. It was the cutest thing to watch Drew get his hair done by Daddy. He had a huge smile on his face the whole time and loved every minute of it. He just has this confidence about him when he gets his hair done. So these are my two studs! I know these pictures aren't the best. I took them in the bathroom.

So tis the season to be BUSY! Now it is crazy all the way till Christmas. But let's not forget what Friday is...Black Friday. Yes, I will be out in the crowds starting at 4 AM this year. Why does Kohls have to open at 4 AM? I swear, every year it gets earlier and earlier. I remember when all the stores opened at 6 or 7 AM. I am excited because I finally get to buy my camera so I can take some decent pictures. Poor Ryan, has to go and buy his Christmas present on Black Friday. He has to get up early and fight the crowds with Drew. But he isn't getting up with me for the 4 AM shopping. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Laugh or Cry

I absolutely love this little video I got of Drew. I took it 2 weeks ago, so sorry it is old but it is hillarious. Drew was very congested, but he doesn't like me using the aspirator on his little nose. He cries when he sees me put that thing anywhere near his face and this one time I accidently squeezed air into his face and he busted up laughing. When he's done laughing, he starts to cry again because he doesn't want me to get his nose. Well, by the end of it, he just wants to play with it and I give it to him but don't worry, I took it away from him when the camera was turned off. He was so mad at me so I cleaned it really good and let hime play with it. He held onto the "nose sucker" the whole time while playing. I finally had to take it away from him when it was nap time. Now it is back in the medicine cabinet.

Trick or Treat!

So Drew had his first Halloween and didn't quite know what to do with himself. We went over to my Mom's house and met up with my sisters and their children. Then we took Drew Trick or Treating to 2 houses with his cousins. Thank you Kimberly for letting me steal pictures from your blog. I of course remembered the cornbread but not the camera. Then we headed back to our neighborhood to visit with the neighbors but noboby was home but one. Next year we are going to stay in my Mom's neighborhood most of the night. But Drew experienced his first sucker just before bedtime and LOVED it. The only problem was he woke up the next morning at 5 AM. No more sugar before bedtime for him! Next year will be alot more fun for him.

Trunk or Treat

Drew had a lot of fun at our ward's Trunk or Treat. It was really fun, especially since it was combined with the other ward we share the building with. It was the first time we have ever been to one and now we know what to bring next year: chairs and decorations for the car. It was fun seeing everyone dressed up. Behind our ward building is a baseball field and there were rides going on with this little "train". Drew had a lot of fun riding with Daddy. Drew had a lot of fun on Halloween. I forgot my camera and am waiting for pictures to be emailed. When I get them, I will post them. And yes, Drew was an elephant for Halloween!
